Dr. Meghan Ziese
Veterinarian
Dr. Meghan Ziese brings a unique and deeply experienced background to Five Rivers Pet Emergency Hospital. She began her medical career as a registered nurse, spending 14 years in human medicine before pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Her interest in animal medicine began with horses and grew stronger over time, ultimately leading her to relocate from Pittsburgh to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee. Dr. Ziese earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2009 and spent many years in general practice before transitioning to emergency medicine in 2025. She has found her true calling in emergency care and is passionate about helping pets and families through urgent situations.
Dr. Ziese lives with her husband, their daughter Sophia, and a lively group of animals that includes horses, dogs, and cats, each with their own distinct personality. Outside of work, she enjoys horseback riding, swimming, reading, and spending quality time with her family.
