Dacey C.
Veterinary Assistant/ Technician
Dacey’s passion for animal advocacy began at age 16 when she started as a grooming assistant and quickly progressed to kennel technician and then emergency veterinary assistant. She pursued additional training to become a technician and is CPR certified, with plans to pursue further education to advance her skills. She chose veterinary medicine because animals do not have a voice, and she felt called to be their advocate and help them heal from whatever challenges they face.
Dacey lives with her supportive partner, with whom she has built a special life and relationship. Her family, including her mother, father, and stepmother, have always supported her career choice, and she enjoys being able to answer their questions through her professional training. She is a beloved aunt to three nephews, two nieces, and four step-grandchildren whom she loves equally. Her home includes Forest, nicknamed Runt, a 4.5-year-old Boxer and Mastiff mix whom she raised from birth; Elliot, called Weenie, a 14-year-old Dachshund and Chihuahua mix who serves as the gentle elder; Hank, a 1-year-old Shih Tzu full of energy and fun; and Ziggy, her mother’s 1-year-old Pug and Chihuahua mix who brings joy to the household. She maintains several large freshwater fish tanks with snails, fish, and frogs and keeps ducks that she has raised for several years. Her dogs, especially Runt, enjoy playing in the ducks’ pond and pools. Outside of work, Dacey enjoys her collection of Volkswagens and attends car shows with her partner. She loves traveling, doing puzzles, cooking, and spending time at the lake during spring, summer, and fall. She maintains a garden where she grows vegetables to share with family and friends and to provide fresh produce for her household and animals.
