Our Team

Rachel I.

Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Rachel has been with Five Rivers Pet Emergency Hospital since spring 2023. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and discovered her calling by combining her love of science and medicine with her passion for animal care while working as a kennel attendant at a local animal shelter. Though she has worked in shelter medicine, general practice, and emergency medicine, shelter work holds a special place in her heart.

Rachel lives with her husband and shares her home with five cats and two dogs, each with their own distinct personality. Her cats include Lily, a 12-year-old spayed female adopted from the shelter during college who loves stuffy mice and quiet spaces; Batman, a 9-year-old neutered male adopted as a kitten who loves games of chase; Newt, a 13-year-old spayed female who came from a friend facing hardship and runs the household with authority; Whiskers, a 12-year-old neutered male retired clinic cat who served as a blood donor and now enjoys soft beds and ear rubs; and Hank, a 4-year-old spayed female adopted by her husband before they met who is a devoted daddy’s girl and has her own bedroom. Her dogs are Lou, a 9-year-old Pug mix and first foster failure who loves meeting new people, and Daisy, a 10-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd who spent eight years as a companion to Rachel’s grandmother and now enjoys active hikes. Outside of work, Rachel can often be found at live music venues and travels frequently for concerts. She enjoys playing video games, board games, and Dungeons and Dragons with friends and loves hiking with Daisy when the weather permits.
